Orawan Kijpakamas, an attorney-at-law in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property group, specializes in devising pre-litigation strategies. Through her acute understanding of IP law, court processes, and the strategies employed by opposing parties, Orawan serves as an integral part of the firm’s IP litigation team. Her expertise includes trademark appeal petitions, oppositions, counterstatements, and cancellations.
Orawan received a law degree from Thammasat University. She is a member of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and she holds a Notarial Services Attorney license. Orawan has completed the Barrister-at-Law requirements of the Institute of Legal Education, Thai Bar Association. She has also completed the Advanced Intellectual Property Law: International Practice and Intellectual Property Litigation course at the Thai Bar Association’s Institute of Legal Education.
Successfully countered a rejection by a trademark registrar through filing a counterstatement and arguing that our client’s trademark was not similar to a prior-registered trademark. As a result, the opposition was cancelled, and our client was able to continue the registration process.
Petitioned the Board of Trademarks and successfully argued that our client’s trademark was different from the cited trademark and the goods were also different even though they were in the same class. The Board of Trademarks ultimately cancelled the trademark registrar’s instruction.
Secured the registration of a famous mark for clothing products through an appeal to the Board of Trademarks.
