The shortlist for the Asia Legal Awards 2022 from Law.com International has been released in full, and Tilleke & Gibbins has secured nominations in two corporate and commercial categories. The firm has been shortlisted for: M&A Firm of the Year (medium-sized deal under USD 500 million) TMT Firm of the Year Law.com International bills the Asia Legal Awards as “the most renowned ceremony for the legal elite” in Asia. The awards recognize the most complex and outstanding legal work from around the region and seek to identify the firms responsible for the most significant transactions and cases in the past year. The winners of the Asia Legal Awards 2022 are set to be announced at a ceremony hosted at the Island Shangri-La Hong Kong on June 15, 2022. Asian Legal Business (ALB) released the list of finalists for their upcoming ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2022, and Tilleke & Gibbins has come away with 15 nominations. Tilleke & Gibbins has received a special recognition from the US-based Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice for the firm’s outstanding pro bono work for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The award was announced in a ceremony held at the New York City Bar Association on April 21. For this work, Eric M. Meyer, a consultant in the firm’s dispute resolution group in Bangkok, led a regional team across Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand to advise UNEP in connection with its Global Environmental Report on the Rule of Law as part of its Environmental Rule of Law Initiative. Among other tasks, this matter involved researching the law in these jurisdictions to assess environmental rule of law trends in each jurisdiction, and compiling our findings in a report to UNEP for their assessment of global environmental rule of law developments. The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice works with legal professionals across borders to advance global justice by supporting civil society and socially responsible legal practice. The center works with lawyers and firms around the world to support civil society organizations and international human rights bodies on a pro bono basis. It also engages law firms, bar associations, law schools, and pro bono clearinghouses to build strength and diversity in pro bono practice.

Asia Business Law Journal (ABLJ) recently announced the winners of their first Thailand Law Firm Awards, and Tilleke & Gibbins earned accolades across a wide range of legal practice categories. The Thailand Law Firm Awards recognize the top four law firms across 23 practice areas, plus a separate category for the best overall law firms. Two attorneys from Tilleke & Gibbins are included in the recently released “Asia’s Top 15 TMT Lawyers” from Asian Legal Business: Charuwan Charoonchitsathian, a partner in the firm’s Bangkok office, and Waewpen Piemwichai, a senior associate at Tilleke & Gibbins in Hanoi. Tilleke & Gibbins is the only firm to be represented by two individuals on the list of the best technology, media, and telecoms (TMT) lawyers. The list identifies the leading TMT lawyers in Asia based on submissions from firms and recommendations and feedback from clients, colleagues, and the wider legal market. In the newly released 2022 “Employer of Choice” issue from Asian Legal Business, Tilleke & Gibbins has once again been recognized as a top employer in the legal industry in both Thailand and Vietnam. The latest results of the annual trademark survey from Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) have once again recognized Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property department as a leading trademark practice throughout the region. For Thailand, Tilleke & Gibbins was ranked in Tier 1 for trademarks for the 19th consecutive year. For Vietnam, Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property practice achieved a Tier 1 ranking for the 11th year running. In the crowded Indonesia market, Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property boutique is continuing to gain recognition, with a Tier 2 ranking for trademark prosecution and a Tier 3 designation for the trademark contentious category. MIP also ranks individual practitioners, as well as some smaller jurisdictions that only have a single category of recommended intellectual property firms. Asia Business Law Journal, a leading legal magazine for the Asia-Pacific region published by Vantage Asia, has released its second annual A-List of Vietnam’s Top 100 Lawyers.
