On June 18, 2020, Managing Intellectual Property revealed the winners of its annual Asia-Pacific Awards, which recognize the top IP firms in the Asia-Pacific region based on the results of extensive market research and client and peer interviews. Tilleke & Gibbins was honored to be recognized by Managing IP for an impressive four awards, being named Asia-Pacific Patent Firm of the Year, Asia-Pacific Trademark Firm of the Year, Thailand Contentious Firm of the Year, and Vietnam Firm of the Year.
Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) has released its IP Stars 2021 individual rankings, with eight Tilleke & Gibbins lawyers in three Southeast Asian jurisdictions included in the list. The rankings, which spotlight the world’s best practitioners working in the fields of patents and trademarks, are selected based on client and peer recommendations in each jurisdiction, with the most commended practitioners being listed in the final results of the annual survey. In terms of the number of ranked individuals, Tilleke & Gibbins leads the way in both Thailand and Vietnam with four and three rankings, respectively. The group of recognized practitioners is divided into “Patent Stars” and “Trademark Stars,” with many lawyers identified in both categories. The 2021 edition of Media Law International (MLI) has been released, with Tilleke & Gibbins being recognized once again for its regional excellence in media law. MLI is a specialist guide that ranks leading media law firms in 56 jurisdictions around the world. For the eighth consecutive year, the firm earned Tier 1 rankings in both Thailand and Vietnam. Tilleke & Gibbins was also names a Tier 2 firm in Indonesia, which places it among the top five firms in the country. World Trademark Review has released WTR 1000 2021, the latest edition of its guide to the leading trademark lawyers around the world, and 18 Tilleke & Gibbins lawyers have been ranked in the publication. Tilleke & Gibbins has the highest number of ranked individuals in every one of its jurisdictions ranked in WTR 1000 2021. The firm’s already dominant performance in the individual rankings was further boosted this year by the addition of rankings for Cambodia—the first year the country was included in World Trademark Review’s research—and additional individual rankings for Tilleke & Gibbins in Vietnam. Tilleke & Gibbins’ reputation as the top firm for intellectual property in Southeast Asia has again been confirmed in the recently released WTR 1000 2021, a guide from World Trademark Review to the leading trademark lawyers around the world. In this year’s rankings, the firm’s offices in Thailand and Vietnam have retained their top-tier Gold Band rankings, while the Indonesia office achieved Silver Band rankings both for Prosecution and Strategy and for Enforcement and Litigation. Tilleke & Gibbins’ Yangon office again appeared in the Myanmar rankings, which are now in their second year, while the firm’s office in Phnom Penh was included in the new single-tier rankings for Cambodia, which was ranked by World Trademark Review for the first time this year. World Trademark Review does not currently publish rankings for Laos. WTR 1000 2021 also includes rankings of individual practitioners.
