Biography

Tiziana Sucharitkul is managing partner of Tilleke & Gibbins and oversees all aspects of the firm’s work, including directing the growth of the firm’s business to align with ever-evolving market and client needs, monitoring firm performance, and ensuring delivery of extraordinary client service. In addition to her steady leadership of the firm, a key focus of her role is Tilleke & Gibbins’ international strategy and building deep relationships with global law firms and clients to nurture Tilleke & Gibbins’ status as a trusted partner for businesses operating in Southeast Asia, and to expand the firm’s ability to serve clients around the world.

Tiziana is a recognized leader in the global legal community. She has served in a number of leadership roles with Lex Mundi, a leading global network of independent law firms of which Tilleke & Gibbins is a member. In this capacity, she currently sits on the board of the Pro Bono Foundation and the Former Chairs’ Committee and is actively involved with the Women’s Initiative Network to Success. Previously she has served on the Executive Committee and as a member of the Board of Directors in a number of roles, including as chair. In 2021 she also began a two-year term on the International Bar Association’s Law Firm Management Committee, and in 2024 she was appointed as one of its senior officers and currently serves as a vice chair of the committee. In addition, Tiziana is one of Asia’s most respected voices on leadership in the legal profession. Her insights are sought regularly on topics such as law firm management, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, and international cooperation in the legal industry to best serve client needs and develop talent.

Tiziana specialized in project finance work with a leading New York law firm before joining Tilleke & Gibbins, where she focused on dispute resolution and spent many years as director of the firm’s dispute resolution and litigation group. In this role, she frequently represented international clients in a wide range of industries, including technology, financial services, consumer goods, luxury goods, and transportation. She has also earned repeated accolades as one of Thailand’s top dispute resolution lawyers from many leading publications, such as Asia Business Law Journal’s 2024 A-List of Thailand’s Top Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation’s 2024 Top 100 Women in Litigation in Asia Pacific list, and 2023 Managing Partner of the Year (Emerging Markets) from Asian Legal Business.

Besides her legal work, Tiziana is a strong supporter of the community in Bangkok and beyond. She currently serves on the Foundation Board of Bangkok Patana School, having previously also sat as the chair of the Human Resources Committee, chair of the Steering Committee, and secretary of the Foundation Board. Other board appointments include Pacific Healthcare (Thailand), the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce, and the Thailand Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Through her commitment to serving clients by building Tilleke & Gibbins’ capabilities, Tiziana’s leadership is integral to the firm’s ability to provide full-service and commercial legal guidance for international, regional, and local businesses active in Southeast Asia.

Tiziana is admitted to the State Bar of California, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Northern District of California Court.

Experience

  • Acted on behalf of several multinational corporations in high-profile criminal customs disputes involving the assessment and calculation of customs duties and penalties.
  • Represented one of the world’s most recognizable fashion and luxury goods retailers in several commercial real estate disputes in Thailand arising from the disputed termination of a 30-year franchisee relationship. This representation included negotiation and settlement of leasehold and commercial franchisee contracts with both the outgoing franchisee and the incoming franchisee partner, one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most successful commercial retailers.
  • Prosecuted several claims worth USD 72 million on behalf of two major Southeast Asian banks against various Thai borrowers and guarantors.
  • Represented a subcontractor in a USD 33 million construction dispute against the prime contractor of a controversial wastewater management project.
  • Recovered USD 38 million for a foreign multinational, as well as a 25-year office lease in a prime Bangkok office building and a full release of the debtor’s USD 46 million countersuit against our client.
  • Represented a manufacturer of consumer products in high-profile administrative court proceedings, challenging the legality and constitutionality of the Thai Ministry of Public Health’s labeling and packaging requirements.
