Kongkiat Ongsanthia, an attorney-at-law in the Tilleke & Gibbins intellectual property group, specializes in pre-litigation strategy. With more than five years of experience dealing with oppositions, counterstatements, appeals, and cancellations, Kongkiat assists clients with his broad knowledge and practical understanding of the most complex intellectual property matters. He has also conducted several successful raid actions, in which he collaborated with the Economic Crime Division (ECD) and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to protect brand owners’ valuable trademarks.
In 2005, Kongkiat graduated with an LLB from Ramkhamhaeng University. He became a member of the Thai Bar in 2006, and later qualified as a Notarial Services Attorney (Class 16). Kongkiat has successfully completed training courses on the Specialist Bar in IP at the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court and the Lawyers’ Council of Thailand. Successfully petitioned the Trademark Registrar to change its opinion regarding a disclaimer requirement through filing an appeal petition. We prevailed in our argument that the Roman letters were sufficiently stylized; as a result, the Registrar cancelled the disclaimer instruction.
Recorded a well-known mark in Thailand utilizing an affidavit drafted to conform to the requirements and expectations of the Board of Well-Known Marks.
