Laos’ Ministry of Finance has announced that the submission deadline for 2019 financial reports has been postponed from March 30, 2020, to April 30, 2020, to help mitigate the difficulties encountered by companies in light of the global COVID-19 epidemic. The measures, announced in Notification No. 0636, also allow for the possibility of a further blanket extension of this deadline, at the government’s discretion, should the situation fail to improve in time for the April 30 deadline to be tenable.

In an effort to help stem the COVID 19 virus outbreak in Thailand, the nation’s chief judicial authorities have ordered the postponement of most court hearings until the end of May 2020. In a resolution issued by the Judicial Administrative Commission (JAC) and an announcement by the President of the Supreme Court (the “Announcement”), all courts of first instance (i.e. trial-level courts) must set new dates for hearings that are currently scheduled between March 24 and May 31. Exceptions

The Ministry of Energy has issued an order to delay the 23rd round of bidding for petroleum exploration and production, as reported on the official website of the Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF). The 23rd round of bidding involved three exploration blocks in the Gulf of Thailand, and was previously expected to open in early April 2020, with the DMF set to return their final decision regarding concessions within the end of 2020. The delayed round of bidding would have reportedly been the first round in 13 years.
