Biography

Ukrit Petpichetchian is an associate in the Tilleke & Gibbins dispute resolution department. Ukrit handles a wide range of complex litigation involving civil and criminal matters, property, bankruptcy, arbitral award enforcement, transportation and logistics, customs, product liability, consumer-related claims, and cross-border disputes. He also has extensive experience in negotiation.

For both plaintiffs and defendants, Ukrit provides pre-litigation advice concerning various legal issues and specializes in preparing his cases for trial and helping his clients to confidently commence or defend litigation and take the witness stand.

Ukrit is a member of the Thai Bar Association and the Lawyers Council of Thailand and a notarial services attorney. He has also completed the constitutional and administrative law training program organized by Tilleke & Gibbins and led by esteemed academics, former judges, and other accomplished legal practitioners in Thailand.

Experience

  • Secured payment on an arbitration award by filing a petition to enforce same and negotiating a prompt and favorable resolution at the first hearing.
  • Successfully defended a leading automobile company against product liability claims brought in court.
  • Represented a client as a joint defendant in a civil lawsuit filed by the owner of adjacent land. The land owner petitioned the court to register a right-of-way across our client’s land to a public road. The trial court rendered judgment in favor of our client and dismissed the land owner’s complaint.
  • Represented a client in a bankruptcy case. Our representation included providing legal advice, preparing and submitting a petition for an absolute receivership order and the debt repayment application, attending various meetings with the official receiver, and attending court hearings.
  • Successfully negotiated a settlement in a dispute between a real estate company and a buyer.
  • Represented a Japanese client against a local Thai supplier of water pumps in a case involving reimbursements of VAT payments subject to the export of goods to Japan. The defendant concealed the reimbursed funds and failed to return them to the client. The team obtained a judgment by the Supreme Court in damages totaling USD 2.5 million in favor of the client.
