Shiwei He

Biography

Shiwei He is a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ international development department in Bangkok, where he is a member of the firm’s China desk. Shiwei assists Chinese clients on various legal issues and coordinates with Thai lawyers in order to effectively provide clients with the knowledge and guidance to achieve their business objectives. Shiwei is especially experienced in corporate legal matters, including M&A transactions, company formation, and shareholding restructuring. He also has extensive experience working with corporate clients to implement tax-related solutions.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, he worked as a tax adviser at the Bangkok office of a Big Four accounting firm, where he was a senior tax associate specializing in international tax and M&A tax work. He also assisted the Chinese Service Group in various matters related to Thai tax laws and regulations, and he worked as an in-house legal counsel in Shanghai, China, providing Thai legal advice on multiple areas. Shiwei holds an LLM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an LLB in Business Law from Thammasat University.

  • Produced tax due diligence reports for numerous clients across various fields (telecommunication, insurance, manufacturing, etc.) on potential high-value and high-visibility business acquisitions.
  • Advised various multinational enterprises in the transportation, manufacturing, and other industries on international tax issues, such as tax feasibility studies, tax implications, and tax management.
  • Assisted a major Chinese investment company that owns multiple subsidiaries across Asia on multiple restructurings of their subsidiaries in Thailand to be more tax efficient.
  • Advised multiple overseas companies on potential PE (permanent establishment) risks in Thailand.
  • Assisted multiple China-based companies with various business development matters to ensure the continued growth and compliance of their business.
