Biography
Hang Thi Nguyen is a trademark executive in the firm’s Vietnam intellectual property group. With more than a decade of experience in the IP space, Hang is skilled in virtually all matters concerning trademarks, including conducting preliminary searches to evaluate registrability; advising on adoption and selection of new trademarks; filing and prosecuting trademark applications; and handling oppositions, cancellations, and appeals. A licensed IP agent, Hang has completed specialized training courses offered by the Japan Patent Office and the WIPO Worldwide Academy. Before joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Hang worked in the patent and trademark divisions of a local Vietnamese firm.
Experience
Opposed several trademarks that were confusingly similar to a well-known trademark related to luxury goods. The oppositions have been upheld by the competent authority and the opposed applications have been finally refused.
Appealed a provisional refusal of an international trademark registration of a famous multinational imaging and photographic equipment company in Europe. The trademark has been accepted for protection in Vietnam.
Successfully opposed a trademark that was confusingly similar to a well-known trademark of a wine producer.
Prosecuted trademark matters for a well-known U.S.-based multinational technology and consulting corporation in the field of informatics in Vietnam.
Successfully prosecuted trademark matters in Laos and Cambodia for a well-known entertainment corporation.
