Managing IP magazine, which has been rolling out its highly regarded IP Stars rankings in stages this year, recently released the results of its patent survey, and Tilleke & Gibbins earned high rankings across key Southeast Asian jurisdictions: Thailand – Tier 1 for the 20th consecutive year Vietnam – Tier 1 for the 8th consecutive year Indonesia – Tier 2 for the 3rd consecutive year The rankings show not only the firm’s excellence in patent work across the region but also its consistency—two decades in Tier 1 for Thailand, with the firm’s Vietnam practice getting close to a decade of its own. Even the relatively new Indonesia operations have been recognized in each of the past three years, and in this latest edition only two firms in Indonesia are ranked above Tilleke & Gibbins. The June 2022 issue of Asian Legal Business (ALB) includes their Top 15 Female Lawyers feature—an annual list of the leading women in legal practice across Asia. Tilleke & Gibbins has received a special recognition from the US-based Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice for the firm’s outstanding pro bono work for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The award was announced in a ceremony held at the New York City Bar Association on April 21. For this work, Eric M. Meyer, a consultant in the firm’s dispute resolution group in Bangkok, led a regional team across Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand to advise UNEP in connection with its Global Environmental Report on the Rule of Law as part of its Environmental Rule of Law Initiative. Among other tasks, this matter involved researching the law in these jurisdictions to assess environmental rule of law trends in each jurisdiction, and compiling our findings in a report to UNEP for their assessment of global environmental rule of law developments. The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice works with legal professionals across borders to advance global justice by supporting civil society and socially responsible legal practice. The center works with lawyers and firms around the world to support civil society organizations and international human rights bodies on a pro bono basis. It also engages law firms, bar associations, law schools, and pro bono clearinghouses to build strength and diversity in pro bono practice.
