Vietnam Trademark Group Recognized by Managing IP

Managing IP, a leading source of intellectual property news and analysis, has ranked Tilleke & Gibbins in Tier 1 in Vietnam for Trademark Prosecution in the magazine’s annual trademark survey for 2012. In addition to this recognition of the firm’s registration work, the Vietnam IP enforcement group was awarded a Tier 2 ranking in the Trademark Contentious category, placing it among the top six firms in this category in Vietnam. A comprehensive survey was conducted to determine the rankings, and a team of researchers contacted firms and corporate counsel in over 80 jurisdictions to compile the results. This ranking builds upon the Vietnam team’s top-tier patent ranking in the Managing IP Patent Survey in February 2012.

Managing Intellectual Property released the shortlists for its 2023 Asia Pacific Awards, and Tilleke & Gibbins was honored to be nominated for five awards—notably, the firm received a nomination in every category for which it was eligible. The nominations include the following: Firm Awards Asia-Pacific Firm of the Year (Domestic Firms) Indonesia Firm of the Year Thailand Firm of the Year Vietnam Firm of the Year Individual Awards Indonesia Practitioner of the Year: Wongrat Ratanaprayul The nomination for Thailand Firm of the Year marks the 17th consecutive year the firm has landed on the shortlist, winning 11 times. For Vietnam, this is the 15th straight nomination, with 9 wins, and for Indonesia, this is the fifth nomination overall. The winners of the awards will be announced at an in-person ceremony in Singapore in mid-May, with exact details still to be confirmed.

World Trademark Review has released the 2023 edition of the WTR 1000—its annual rankings of the leading trademark lawyers around the world. Tilleke & Gibbins’ performance in this year’s edition is particularly strong, with the annual guide once again confirming Tilleke & Gibbins’ reputation as a regional powerhouse for trademark-related matters in Southeast Asia. In the 2023 rankings, the firm’s offices in Thailand and Vietnam have retained their top-tier Gold Band rankings, while the Indonesia office achieved rankings in both the Prosecution and Strategy (Silver Band) and the Enforcement and Litigation (Bronze Band) categories.
