David Lyman to Join Panel Discussion on US-Thai Relations at FCCT Event

Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand

Thailand and the United States have historically remained staunch allies throughout tumultuous bouts of conflict, colonialism, and communism. This relationship dates back to as far as the 1920s, when the United States helped Siam tackle unequal treaties that had been imposed on it by predatory powers. Relations have, however, been strained by coups in 2006 and 2014, which triggered censure protocols in the United States, and critical comments made by U.S. officials on the Kingdom’s political situation. Thailand’s relationship with China has also warmed on all fronts.

To discuss Thailand’s relationship with the United States in 2015 and beyond, David Lyman, chairman and chief values officer at Tilleke & Gibbins, will participate as a panelist in a discussion on “The Eagle and the Elephant: U.S.-Thai Relations 2015.” He will be joined by two prominent speakers, Kasit Piromya and Benjamin Zawacki.

The panel discussion is being hosted by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand. It will take place on August 5 at 7 p.m. in Maneeya Center on Ploenchit Road, Bangkok. If you would like to learn more about this event, please visit the FCCT website.
