Darani Vachanavuttivong to Present on Intellectual Property Issues for Investors in Myanmar

On June 21, 2012, at the Pathuwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok, Darani Vachanavuttivong, co-managing partner at Tilleke & Gibbins, will be speaking about relevant intellectual property issues at a seminar organized by IRVING Seminar & Training, “What do you need to know to invest in Myanmar?”

According to statistics by the Myanmar Investment Commission, in 2011, Myanmar attracted foreign direct investments worth over USD 40 billion, of which China and Thailand were leading investors. The regulatory landscape is also undergoing substantial reforms in foreign investment procedures and incentives, the foreign exchange regime, land rights, taxation, and financing. The seminar will therefore help to exchange knowledge and experience of professionals in the region, and give greater insight into how to take advantage of investment opportunities in Myanmar.

The seminar will cover the following:

  • Intellectual property
  • Legal overview
  • Navigating a path to successful investment in Myanmar
  • Main challenges and risks
  • Taxation
  • Labor issues
