Chusert Supasitthumrong Quoted by Bangkok Post on Employment Law during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Chusert Supasitthumrong, a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution practice, shared his expertise on the application of Thai labor law during the COVID-19 crisis in a recent Bangkok Post article about the pandemic’s effects on employees and employers.

The article aims to help workers understand their rights in the midst of the current situation, and to share the concerns and momentous choices that both employers and employees are facing at this time. Chusert’s insights provide important perspective on the legality of some possible responses to the turmoil. He explains compensation requirements in the event of a temporary cessation of business, the legal implications of a government-ordered lockdown, and the “no work, no pay” principle in Thai labor law.

Chusert, who heads the firm’s employment disputes practice, is widely regarded as an authority on Thai labor law and the proper legal resolution of conflicts between employees and employers. In the present situation he has taken an active role in offering guidance to employers in Thailand on how employers in Thailand can respond to the impact of COVID-19.
