BSA and Tilleke & Gibbins Hold Event on Software Licensing

The Business Software Alliance, with legal support from Tilleke & Gibbins, recently met with Japanese business leaders to enhance understanding of software licensing requirements in Thailand. Thai law requires that companies adhere to licensing agreements for software. In addition, the Japanese version of the Sarbanes Oxley Act, known as J Sox, requires that Japanese companies in Thailand comply with Thai copyright laws for software.

On May 6, 2020, Athistha Chitranukroh, partner and director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group, participated in a panel discussion on the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), organized by the NIA Academy of Thailand’s National Innovation Agency (NIA). The panel session focused on the reach of the new law, which was passed nearly a year ago and is expected to take effect at the end of May, 2020.
