Atthachai Homhuan Leads Webinar on Thailand’s Medical Device Regulatory Response to COVID-19

On May 8, 2020, Atthachai Homhuan, manager, regulatory affairs, at Tilleke & Gibbins, was the invited speaker for a Licensing Executives Society (LES) Thailand webinar about the COVID-19 responses of the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of International Trade (DIT). He spoke about the ongoing steps the Thai FDA and DIT have taken to encourage the domestic availability of critical products for the fight against COVID-19.

Within the Thai FDA, the Medical Device Control Division has introduced expedited pathways to speed the registration of tools and equipment necessary for preventing the spread of the virus. The DIT’s involvement has centered around the guidance issued by the Central Committee on Prices of Goods and Services, which has put in place export controls to prevent medical device shortages in Thailand due to exports of equipment such as domestically produced masks.

This members-only webinar was held as part of LES Thailand’s efforts to share timely information on intellectual property commercialization, licensing activities, and business-related regulatory affairs. LES Thailand brings together entrepreneurs, legal and professional service providers, and many others with common interests in technology licensing and IP.
