Atthachai Homhuan Interviewed by Cannabis Law Report

On October 5, 2020, the Cannabis Law Report published an in-depth interview with Dr. Atthachai Homhuan, a manager in Tilleke & Gibbins’ regulatory affairs practice. The interview covers the development of Thailand’s regulatory environment for cannabis, how industry players can get involved, and Tilleke & Gibbins’ work with clients in the cannabis industry.

After giving an introduction to Tilleke & Gibbins and the firm’s work on behalf of clients in the cannabis industry, Dr. Atthachai discusses the background and current state of cannabis regulations in Thailand, and goes into the legal requirements surrounding medical cannabis, industrial hemp, and CBD-derived products. The interview then steers toward opportunities for foreign investment in Thai cannabis companies. Dr. Atthachai explains issues such as rules for cannabis companies operating in Thailand, import and export regulations, and the outlook for further foreign involvement in the Thai cannabis industry. Dr. Atthachai also demonstrates the firm’s regional capabilities by addressing the possibility of cannabis legalization in Laos and other neighboring countries.
