Biography

Robbaita Zahra is an intellectual property coordinator in Tilleke & Gibbins’ office in Indonesia, specializing in trademarks. She assists companies in various industries on a wide range of trademark matters, handling trademark searches, registrations, prosecutions, assignments, oppositions, advisory, and other trademark-related matters, in addition to providing strategic advice on how companies can best protect and capitalize on their trademarks in Indonesia. She also provides assistance on other intellectual property matters, such as copyright-related issues.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Robbaita worked as a legal associate in a prominent e-commerce company in Indonesia, where she handled its intellectual property matters.

Robbaita earned her LLB from Universitas Gadjah Mada, during which she also participated in an intellectual property course at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea. She has also completed the Indonesia Advocates Profession Training held by the Indonesian Bar Association (PERADI).

Experience

Conducted trademark searches to assess the availability and registrability of clients’ proposed trademarks.
Filed trademark applications and collaborated with officials at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property to ensure smooth registration processes for clients in a wide range of industries.
Represented clients in maintaining and defending their trademark portfolios in Indonesia through filing oppositions, recordals, renewals, hearings, and other related actions.
Drafted cease-and-desist letters and advised clients on strategies for tackling their trademark issues in Indonesia.
Liaised and consulted with government agencies, such as the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, the Directorate General of General Legal Administration, and the Ministry of Communication and Information, to obtain information on various client matters.

Tilleke & Gibbins Creates IP Guides for Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam for EU-Funded Project

Intellectual property experts from Tilleke & Gibbins were engaged by ARISE+ IPR, a regional support program funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Intellectual Property Office, to craft a series of IP enforcement guides for Southeast Asian countries, aimed at raising local awareness of the importance of IP protection. The five-year, EUR 5.5 million ARISE+ IPR program supports regional integration through IP cooperation and aims to upgrade national IP systems for creation, protection, utilization, administration, and enforcement to be in line with international best practices and standards and the strategic objectives of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights Action Plan 2016-2025. The guides were developed by Tilleke & Gibbins’ lawyers in cooperation with the IP offices of each participating country, and cover issues related to trademarks, industrial designs, and geographical indications. Each guide was produced in a compact leaflet form in English as well as the local language, and is considered an official publication of the respective national IP office. Tilleke & Gibbins Shortlisted for Four ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2024

Tilleke & Gibbins has been named a finalist in five categories at the SE Asia Law Awards 2024 from Asian Legal Business (ALB). Tilleke & Gibbins Recognized as Regional IP Leader in WTR 1000 2024 Rankings

World Trademark Review has released the 2024 edition of the WTR 1000, its annual rankings of the leading trademark lawyers around the world. Tilleke & Gibbins’ regional intellectual property team showed another stellar performance this year, building on the firm’s reputation as a regional powerhouse for trademark-related matters in Southeast Asia. In the 2024 rankings, the firm’s offices in Thailand and Vietnam have retained their top-tier Gold Band rankings, while the Indonesia office achieved a Silver Band ranking in the Prosecution and Strategy category and a Bronze Band ranking in the Enforcement and Litigation category.
