Biography

Hong Nhat Do is a patent executive in the firm’s Hanoi office. As a member of the patent team’s electronics and mechanical division, Hong regularly handles patent searches, translates patent specifications, prepares and files applications, and advises clients on legal matters primarily in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, metallurgy, and mechanical engineering. Having earned a degree in biotechnology and biochemistry, she is also capable of handling patents in the life sciences.

Before joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Hong was the deputy manager of the patent department at one of Vietnam’s top local IP firms. She is a licensed IP agent and holds a degree in law.

Experience

  • Managed more than 400 patent applications and successfully prosecuted over 250 patent applications to granting.
  • Translated numerous patent specifications from English into Vietnamese in the telecommunications, electronics, and biochemistry fields and prepared documents for filing patent applications with the Vietnam IP Office.
  • Advised clients on amendment of patent applications to meet patentability requirements, and filed arguments on behalf of clients in response to office actions.
  • Advised clients on Vietnamese IP law in practice, such as procedures, priority rights, refusal, cancellation, appeal, patent search, and renewals.
