Reporting to the Head of Trademark Group and other designated supervisors, the Trademark Executive manages trademark portfolios and advises clients on a broad range of trademark matters across Vietnam and the wider region. The role provides the opportunity to work on complex trademark matters from strategy and prosecution through to enforcement and portfolio management, while contributing to practice growth and the development of junior team members.

Client Advisory & Trademark Strategy

• Advise clients and respond to inquiries across the full range of trademark matters, including procedures, estimated costs, searches, review and proposal of specifications of goods and services, prosecution, post-registration issues, with support on disputes and enforcement.
• Meet with clients, in person or by video conference, to discuss their matters and maintain strong, lasting client relationships.
• Conduct trademark searches and registrability assessments, advising on filing strategies and options to overcome cited marks.

Prosecution & Portfolio Management

• Prepare, review, and file trademark documents and submissions, including applications, responses, oppositions, cancellations and invalidations, appeals, renewals, and recordals.
• Manage trademark portfolios and proceedings end to end — filings, prosecution, office actions, oppositions, post-registration matters, deadlines, and status reporting.
• Handle the administrative tasks associated with managing matters and clients.

Business Development & Marketing

• Build your professional profile by researching and writing articles, client alerts, and legal updates for the Firm’s internal and external publications, often featured under your own name.
• Represent the Firm at conferences, seminars, and networking events — in Vietnam and internationally — with opportunities to speak, travel, and grow your network.
• Contribute to cross-selling and business development initiatives that help grow the practice.

Professional Development & Mentoring

• Mentor and support associates and trademark support staff, and contribute to performance reviews as requested.
• Stay current on IP laws and developments in Vietnam and internationally, and maintain any applicable IP license.
• Access ongoing training and development opportunities to deepen your expertise and grow your career.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of substantive experience in trademark law.
• Demonstrated experience prosecuting trademark applications before the IP Office.
• Experience with international trademark filings (Madrid Protocol, EUIPO, and foreign jurisdictions).
• Strong familiarity with trademark databases and research tools.
• Experience with docketing systems.
• Law degree.
• Bar admission or IP agent license is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal English is essential; strong or native Vietnamese is also required.
