POSITION SUMMARY

Areas of Responsibility

Legal Practice

  • Advise clients on strategies to commercialize, monetize, and maximize the value of IP assets, including portfolio management.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assist with the negotiation and structuring of IP licensing, franchising, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Provide advice on copyright, trademark, technology, media, entertainment, and digital-content matters.
  • Conduct IP due diligence and review IP ownership, licensing, artist, content, and commercial agreements.
  • Prepare legal opinions, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations on IP and technology-related issues.
  • Negotiate and structure IP licensing, technology transfer, franchising, joint ventures, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Prepare, review, and handle all aspects of legal advice on IP protection to clients, including, but not limited to, filing, amendment, disclaimer, and renewal of trademark with concerned government agencies to receive maximum protection under the law and other assignments from matter inception to completion
  • Support the firm’s life sciences practice and provide advice on life sciences regulatory matters, including labeling, advertising, clinical trials, and other compliance.
  • Develop legal strategies, provide legal opinions, and serve as the primary point of contact with clients.
  • Perform other necessary and required tasks related to IP matters and/or other administrative tasks.

 Client Development and Relationship Management

  • Take initiative in designing and implementing business development and marketing plans for Intellectual Property practice group for Thailand office and the firm’s overseas offices in the region.
  • Regularly publish articles and give presentations that increase the firm’s visibility, which results in new business opportunities.
  • Participate in crafting proposals and pitch for new business from current or prospective clients.
  • Represent the firm at relevant conferences as agreed with partner(s) or department heads.
  • Take full ownership of work with minimal oversight from partner(s).
  • Effectively and efficiently manage projects and matters well.

Mentoring

  • Mentor junior associates in developing legal skills, work management, and client relationships.

Administrative Tasks

  • Manage other administrative tasks in professional and timely manners such as time recording, invoicing, billing and chasing aged-debt, matter opening, conflicts of interest, etc.

Specification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Mid-level Associate: At least 5 years of IP law experience, including copyright, trademark, and IP commercial work.
  • Senior Associate: At least 8-10 years of IP law experience, including copyright, trademark, and IP commercial work.

  • Communication skills – have excellent written and spoken skills in both Thai and English.
