POSITION SUMMARY

Areas of Responsibility

Legal Practice

  • Assist team of lawyers in providing competition law advice to clients, including researching and analyzing issues relating to anti-competitive agreements, abuse of marker dominance, and unfair trade practices under Thailand’s competition law and merger control regulations, related rules, guidelines, and sector-specific regulations.
  • Support the handling of competition-related complaints and regulatory matters, including assisting with responses to enquiries and investigations by the Trade Competition Commission of Thailand (TCCT), sector-specific regulators, and other relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Assist with merger filings and related regulatory processes, including conducting preliminary competition assessments, preparing information requests, reviewing transaction documents, gathering market information, preparing merger filing application set, drafting market definition analyses, supporting the collection and analysis of market data, tracking filing timelines and regulatory requirements, and arranging for submission of application with TCCT.
  • Conduct legal research on Thai, regional, and international competition law developments, market definitions, foreign cases, merger control regimes, and precedents to support the preparation of legal advice, memo and merger filing documents, make phone inquiries to the TCCT and other Thai government offices.
  • Support senior associates and partners on other competition law advice, merger filing and client training matters, including assisting with client meetings, preparing legal memo and presentation materials.
  • Perform other assigned legal work in competition law, merger filing, and other legal areas directed by senior associates and partners including general corporate and commercial services, company formation and dissolution, options for shareholding structures to setup foreign majority owned company in Thailand, registered office, capital, profit repatriation, labor, necessary permits and license requirements, company secretary work such as shareholder meeting and report filing as well as prepare, attend, and support board of directors meeting, shareholder meeting, and minute preparation.

 

Client Development and Work and Relationships Management

  • Contribute to the preparation of marketing materials, legal updates, and client alerts on competition law, merger control developments and other legal areas as assigned and under the guidance of senior associates and partners.
  • Assist in researching and drafting articles or publications on various legal topics for review and approval by senior team members.
  • Support the preparation of proposals and pitch materials for new business opportunities as directed.
  • Participate in internal and external practice development activities, seminars, webinars, and conferences as appropriate or as assigned to develop knowledge and professional networks.
  • Work collaboratively within the team and communicate progress on assigned tasks to supervising lawyers in a timely manner.
  • Assist in managing assigned tasks and deliverables efficiently while seeking guidance from senior team members when needed.

 

Administrative Tasks

  • Manage administrative tasks in a professional and timely manner, including time recording, conflict checks, document organization, billing support, and other internal administrative processes.
  • Assist with maintaining and preparing internal know-how, templates, precedent and presentation materials, regulatory updates, and internal records.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Fresh graduate or up to 2 years of post-qualification experience, with a focus on/ strong interest in competition law and merger control.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law with foundational knowledge of competition law; or a master’s degree in competition law, or a master’s degree in any area of law with competition law and merger control modules.
  • Experience or coursework involving legal research, legal writing, regulatory analysis, corporate transactions, economics, or public law would be an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct legal and factual research, summarize findings clearly, and assist in preparing legal advice and regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with corporate transactions, commercial contracts, financial statements, business structures, or market analysis would be an advantage but is not required.
  • Strong interest in developing long-term practice in competition law, merger control, and regulatory advisory work.
