Yuwadee Thean-Ngarm and Athistha (Nop) Chitranukroh to speak at Into Myanmar Insurance Summit 2019

Two senior practitioners from Tilleke & Gibbins will join the second day of the Into Myanmar Insurance Summit 2019 to speak on key topics to this rapidly emerging market.

Yuwadee Thean-Ngarm, director of the firm’s Yangon office, will speak on data-protection—an increasingly significant topic in light of global trends toward data subject empowerment—in a presentation entitled Data Privacy Regulations Relating to the Insurance Industry. Later in the same day, Athistha (Nop) Chitranukroh, partner and deputy director of the firm’s corporate and commercial department and head of the firm’s Insurance industry group, will host a panel of corporate counsel in a discussion of the role of reinsurers in developing the insurance industries of emerging markets.

Myanmar’s insurance industry looks set to become a major growth area in the coming years, following a recent decision to liberalize the market to foreign investors. The Into Myanmar Insurance Summit 2019 is presented with the objective of supporting government, companies, and private citizens to fully unlock the growth potential of the insurance sector in Myanmar, and to contribute as a key enabler of sustainable economic growth.
