Wongrat Ratanaprayul Quoted by Asia IP on Indonesia Patent Application Cancelations

Asia IP

Wongrat Ratanaprayul, director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ office in Jakarta, was quoted by Asia IP  in a recent article on the Indonesian IP office’s newly assertive stance toward patent filings.

The article seeks the opinions of legal experts in Indonesia on the recent action of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP), which has begun canceling the patent applications of applicants who have existing annuity debts. Wongrat explains the elements of the DGIP’s new stance, as well as the background of the action and the expected outcome of this new position. She explains that the DGIP’s new policy could be a financial burden to patent filers, and might ultimately deter creators from filing for protection of their intellectual property.

Asia IP  magazine is a top resource for companies in Asia to access analysis and insight on intellectual property protection in Asia. The magazine aims to uncover challenges affecting IP-owning companies and present possible solutions they can apply in meeting these obstacles.
