Waewpen Piemwichai and Sher Hann Chua to Speak on Franchising in Southeast Asia

On July 22, 2020, attorneys Waewpen Piemwichai and Sher Hann Chua will speak at a webinar on “Why You Should Consider Southeast Asia for Your Franchise.” The webinar, organized by VF Franchise Consulting, is primarily targeting existing franchisors in Asia and Australasia who are considering regional expansion.

Waewpen, based in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi office, and Sher Hann, based in Bangkok, will share a high-level overview of franchising regulations in the markets in Southeast Asia, and provide tips for franchisors on identifying and avoiding the potential pitfalls when structuring franchise agreements to ensure constant compliance, while reducing risks.

Thailand’s Public Procurement Act B.E. 2560 (2017) was published in the Government Gazette on February 24, 2017, and entered into force on August 23, 2017. The objective of the new law is to standardize governmental procurement and supplies management by establishing standard criteria for all government agencies to follow.This act introduces major changes to the government’s procurement process, principles of operator selection, registration of operators, annual procurement planning by government agencies, and the role of the civil society sector and operators in anti-corruption.
