Tilleke & Gibbins to Host Launch of ASEAN LegalTech Association on August 13

ASEAN LegalTech Association

On August 13, 2019, Tilleke & Gibbins will host a reception for the Thailand launch of the ASEAN LegalTech Association (ALT). ALT provides a platform to connect LegalTech startups, law firms, corporate legal departments, academics, and regulators to promote and build the LegalTech ecosystem in Southeast Asia. More information about the organization is available at the ALT website. Tilleke & Gibbins is playing a key role in the regional development of ALT.

With sponsorship from Thomson Reuters, the launch reception will include the following program:

  • 16:30-17:30: Registration and networking
  • 17:30-17:45: Welcome and overview of ASEAN LegalTech (presented by Andrew Stoutley and Athistha (Nop) Chitranukroh of Tilleke & Gibbins)
  • 17:45-18:05: Introduction to TR Ignite pitch competition for LegalTech startups (presented by Polly Poon of Thomson Reuters)
  • 18:05-18:30: Implementation of LegalTech in a corporate legal department (presented by Jirasak Latada of SCG)
  • 18:30-19:30: Networking and cocktails

Targeted at in-house lawyers, private practitioners, startups, academics, and others with an interest in the potential growth of LegalTech in Thailand, the event will provide a great opportunity to bring together Thailand’s LegalTech community in order to build momentum in this space. The potential for both financial and reputational damage caused by these attacks has led to many companies reevaluating their operations to minimize risk and exposure. In addition, the Thai Cabinet has approved the Personal Data Protection Bill, which would impose strict obligations on organizations regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and transfer of personal data, and implement harsh penalties for noncompliance.
