Tilleke & Gibbins Honored by City of Hanoi

Tilleke & Gibbins has received a certificate of commendation from the City of Hanoi for the firm’s notable contributions to the city’s judicial field. Thomas J. Treutler, partner and managing director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a conference held by the People’s Committee of Hanoi on March 21. Mr. Ha Hung Cuong, the Minister of Justice in Vietnam, attended the event.

At the conference, the Minister and other judicial officials provided a status update on the activities over the past year of various legal support fields, including notaries, arbitrators, bailiffs, and legal advisors, highlighting their accomplishments and the challenges they face. Several individuals and firms from each area were singled out for their achievements, including Tilleke & Gibbins, the only foreign law firm to receive such recognition.

Partner Linh Thi Mai Nguyen, head of Tilleke & Gibbins’ trademark group in Vietnam, will speak at an educational roundtable organized by the International Trademark Association (INTA) in Hanoi on March 12. The roundtable will focus on the challenges and opportunities facing businesses regarding trademarks and geographical indications in the context of Vietnam’s free trade agreements, and will also feature speakers from INTA, the U.S. Dairy Export Council, and Vietnam’s intellectual property office.
