Tilleke & Gibbins to Cover Regional Employment Law Updates at Annual Employment Law Forum 2019

The Tilleke & Gibbins Annual Employment Law Forum 2019 will be held on November 27 and 28 at our head office in Bangkok, providing in-depth discussion of the key legal updates and challenging issues faced by legal and human resources professionals in Thailand and across the region. This year’s forum has been expanded into a two-day event—the first day in English covering both Thailand and the broader Southeast Asia region, and the second day in Thai providing a deep-dive into the latest developments in Thai labor law, and, for the first time, a Thai-language introduction to labor law in Vietnam.

The English-language session (November 27) will first feature presentations by attorneys from Tilleke & Gibbins offices in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam to provide an overview of the labor laws in each market for current and prospective investors in the region. In the second part of the day’s event, lawyers from Tilleke & Gibbins’ headquarters in Bangkok will discuss the most important recent developments in Thai labor law, including the new TM30 reporting requirements for expatriates, amendments to Thailand’s Labor Protection Act, and the new Personal Data Protection Act.

On November 28 all presentations will be in Thai and will focus on the most important labor and employment law issues in Thailand today. Tilleke & Gibbins attorneys will examine the impact of recent Supreme Court decisions, explore the new amendments to the Labor Protection Act, discuss the criminal liability to which employers can be exposed, and identify best practices regarding noncompetition clauses and trade secrets. The Thai session will close with a presentation on employment law in Vietnam, given by an attorney from the Tilleke & Gibbins office in Hanoi.
