Tilleke & Gibbins Consultant to Speak at Summit on Anti-Corruption in Singapore

American Conference Institute

On December 4-6, 2012, the American Conference Institute will host a summit on anti-corruption in Singapore, at the Marriott hotel. The summit will pay particular attention to compliance and risk management, and address the different ways to implement country-specific strategies to detect, investigate, and prevent risks of foreign corrupt practices and bribery.

The program will begin with presentations focusing on a group of countries, particularly China, and case examples using the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The topics range from minimizing third-party risks, enforcing anti-corruption measures, and coordinating investigations by development banks, to a focus on the anatomy of multijurisdictional corruption and how to encourage employees to use corporate reporting mechanisms to mitigate risks.

The presentations will be followed by workshops that interactively go beyond regulatory tools to identify concrete tactics for avoiding the pitfalls presented by gift giving, entertainment, and hospitality in emerging markets in Asia. Clemence Gautier, consultant in the Tilleke & Gibbins intellectual property and regulatory affairs teams, will act as a workshop facilitator with lawyers from Singapore and Vietnam, and specifically address strategies for “Developing a Compliant Gift, Travel, and Hospitality Policy: A Complete Guide on How to Balance Legal Needs with Local Standards of Entertainment in Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.”

The attendees and speakers of the event include a range of directors, managers, general counsel, officers, and other representatives from banks, law firms, and multinational businesses from across the globe. For more information on this event, please visit the ACI website.
