Tilleke & Gibbins Client Seminar – FCPA Enforcement Trends: The DOJ’s Perspective

Tilleke & Gibbins

Compliance and anti-corruption are issues of significant concern for business executives and in-house counsel. Companies are faced with a myriad of compliance obligations both locally in the jurisdictions where they do business and internationally due to obligations under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the U.K. Bribery Act, and other similar legislation. To help better equip businesses to deal with these issues, Tilleke & Gibbins is organizing an exclusive seminar to allow our clients to hear directly from a senior representative of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), who will share focused, practical insights with us on these compliance issues.

Our special guest speaker for this seminar will be Mr. Peter J. Ainsworth, Senior Anti-Corruption Counsel – Criminal Division with the DOJ. During his 25 years with the DOJ, Peter has advised high-level U.S. and foreign government officials and representatives of multinational organizations on anti-corruption enforcement issues and FCPA compliance worldwide. He has led teams of prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of high-profile public corruption matters.

During this seminar, Peter will update participants on recent trends in FCPA enforcement. Through a series of case studies, he will review common fact patterns, provide insight into DOJ investigations, examine the prosecution process, and talk about his experience in reaching settlement agreements. Participants will leave the seminar armed with new insights into the DOJ’s areas of focus, as well as resources that can help to improve compliance efforts. The event will also include a Q&A session, during which participants will have an opportunity for an interactive discussion of these issues.
