Tilleke & Gibbins and SIAC to Host Seminar on International Arbitration

On Friday, January 17, 2020, Tilleke & Gibbins will host a seminar on arbitration practices in Singapore and Thailand, with special guest speaker Ms. Lim Seok Hui, CEO of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). She will give a presentation on procedures and rules for conducting SIAC arbitration to settle disputes between parties from all over the world. Joining her to give their own perspective and insights on SIAC arbitration will be Noppramart Thammateeradaycho, counsel in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Dispute Resolution Department, and Prakash Pillai, partner at Clyde & Co in Singapore.

The seminar will held at Tilleke & Gibbins’ head office in Bangkok from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and will also be broadcast as a webinar for those unable to attend in person. On September 8, 2010, the Intellectual Property and International Trade Court (IP&IT Court) held a meeting to discuss and gather comments and recommendations on the procedure for issuing search warrants in relation to IP criminal actions. Various concerned parties attended the meeting, such as police officers, public prosecutors, and IP practitioners. This meeting was significant because many IP owners have expressed concerns about the need for standardized procedures in determining whether a search warrant will be granted.
