Thomas Treutler to Participate in U.S. Ambassador’s Roundtable Discussion on IP and Innovation

On September 18, 2012, Thomas J. Treutler, partner and managing director of Tilleke & Gibbins in Vietnam, will be participating in the U.S. Ambassador’s Roundtable Discussion on Intellectual Property and Innovation. The event is being jointly organized by the U.S. Embassy, the American Chamber of Commerce, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

The roundtable discussion will be held at the InterContinental Westlake Hotel in Hanoi. It will provide a forum for high-ranking government officials and U.S. industry heavyweights—Microsoft, Facebook, and Cisco are among the co-sponsors—to share their thoughts on the current state of IP protection and enforcement in Vietnam, work together to outline steps to improve the country’s IP regime, and raise consumer awareness of IP rights.

Thomas will be part of a panel discussion called “Trends in IP Protection & Innovation Promotion—A U.S. Industry Perspective” along with representatives from Google, the MPAA, and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

The morning session on Intellectual Property and Innovation will be followed by a Roundtable Discussion on Cybersecurity and Safe Computing in the afternoon.

For more information on the event, please visit the website of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam.
