Thomas Treutler to Lead IP Rights Discussion at U.S. Ambassador’s Roundtable in Hanoi

On November 7, 2013, Thomas J. Treutler, partner and managing director of Tilleke & Gibbins in Vietnam, will be participating in the U.S. Ambassador’s Roundtable on Intellectual Property Rights, an event jointly organized by the U.S. Embassy, the American Chamber of Commerce, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, and co-sponsored by Tilleke & Gibbins.

The third installation of what is hoped to be an annual event, this year’s roundtable will be held at the Sofitel Plaza in Hanoi. U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear and Vietnam’s Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan will provide opening remarks before yielding the floor to a series of panel discussions involving prominent Vietnamese and U.S. government officials, industry experts, and other concerned parties.

Thomas will be moderating a panel discussion called “Trends in IP Enforcement—U.S. Industry Perspectives” with panelists from Google, Ford, the Motion Picture Association, and Qualcomm discussing the challenges of IP enforcement in Vietnam as well as steps the country can take to improve its IP protection regime. The morning IPR-themed session will be followed by an afternoon session on “The Role of Cyber Security in Creating a Vibrant Digital Economy in Vietnam.”
