Thomas Treutler Discusses Vietnamese Trademark Registration in Asia IP

Asia IP, a specialist monthly magazine providing coverage of IP issues in the region, recently quoted Thomas J. Treutler, Partner and Managing Director of Tilleke & Gibbins in Vietnam, in a feature on the development of the Vietnamese IP regime in the five years since the country joined the WTO. The article contrasted the ease of trademark registration with the challenges of enforcement. Thomas emphasized the importance of companies tracking and defending their IP rights. “It is important to monitor gazettes because it is easy to lodge an objection but a cancelation can be problematic and time consuming,” Thomas said.
