The 2014/15 edition of Practical Law Company’s Q&A-style, multi-jurisdictional guide to Insurance and Reinsurance has been released. The guide presents readers with in-depth analysis of insurance and reinsurance markets around the world, covering a total of 18 jurisdictions. Business methods are new methods of doing business often found in many industries—especially in the services business sector such as insurance, banking and finance, tax compliance, and e-commerce.

Reports have circulated of life insurance policyholders being defrauded by unscrupulous insurance agents. The good news is that under recent amendments to the Life Insurance Act, policyholders are now being given more protection. The bad news is that restrictions on foreign ownership, which were rejected amid much controversy with respect to the Alien Business Act, were nonetheless incorporated into the new legislation. This article discusses both the positive and the negative aspects of the amended law.
