On April 1, 2015, Tilleke & Gibbins co-hosted an intellectual property enforcement training session in collaboration with the Attorney General of Myanmar of the Union Attorney General’s Office, Myanmar, at the Lake Garden Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw. The training session brought together officers from the courts, the Justice Department, the police force, the Customs Department, and the Attorney General’s Office, to broaden their knowledge on intellectual property enforcement in Asian countries and to train the participants on product identification techniques.

Hong Kong-based intellectual property magazine Asia IP has interviewed Michael Ramirez, senior consultant, and Yuwadee Thean-ngarm, consultant, in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Yangon office, for their thoughts on protecting intellectual property in Myanmar. Michael’s and Yuwadee’s comments were included in an issue of Asia IP dubbed “The Investors Are Coming: Turning an Eye to IP Protection in Myanmar.” 

Tilleke & Gibbins has received a certificate of commendation from the City of Hanoi for the firm’s notable contributions to the city’s judicial field. Thomas J. Treutler, partner and managing director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a conference held by the People’s Committee of Hanoi on March 21. Mr. Ha Hung Cuong, the Minister of Justice in Vietnam, attended the event.

Areeya Pornwiriyangkura, an attorney-at-law in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property group, will speak at a seminar, dubbed “Create … Protect … and Make Money from Your IP,” hosted by the Licensing Association (Thailand) at the IP Fair 2015, an event organized by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce. Areeya, who will be joined by two other distinguished speakers, will discuss strategies for creating IP, the importance of knowing IP rights, the protection and commercialization of IP, and the value of discovering technological secrets.
