As part of its annual awards, Asia IP  has announced its shortlist of potential winners, and Tilleke & Gibbins has been honored to receive nominations in eight categories across four countries.Tilleke & Gibbins has been nominated in the following categories:

Dr. Jakkrit Kuanpoth, of counsel in Tilleke & Gibbins, will present on the topic “Enforcing Your Intellectual Property Rights to Protect Your Traditional Arts and Crafts in Physical and Online Environments” at the “Workshop on Using Intellectual Property to Protect and Promote Traditional Arts and Craft,” an event hosted by the ASEAN Secretariat and the USPTO Global Intellectual Property Academy.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a trade agreement that, among a number of things, offers longer protection for patents. Malaysia ratified the TPP this year. Critics of the TPP are of the view that it will hinder innovation. Alan Adcock, partner and deputy director of the intellectual property department at Tilleke & Gibbins, was interviewed by Malay Mail Online to discuss these issues, and his comments were included in an online article named “Ideas: Fear of Intellectual Property Rights Insulting to Malaysians.”
