People's Daily

Journalists from one of China’s leading newspapers, People’s Daily, recently visited the Tilleke & Gibbins Museum of Counterfeit Goods, after which it received a large spread in the People’s Daily and its subsidiary, Global Times.

The article provides detailed background information on the museum, naming it the “largest [museum] of its kind in the world.” It also specifies the number and types of goods in the museum’s collection, the types of brands represented, and how fakes can be differentiated from genuine products.

While quoting James Evans, consultant in the Tilleke & Gibbins intellectual property group, the journalists describe the counterfeit goods market in Thailand and the types of products that are most heavily counterfeited, ranging from food products to handbags.

The article concludes with the impact of counterfeit goods and the danger of using certain fake goods. It also offers some perspective on the extent to which Thai government officials have actively tried to prevent the production of counterfeit goods.

People’s Daily is the official newspaper of the Communist Party of China. It is published worldwide, has editions in multiple languages, and provides direct information on the policies and viewpoints of the party. To read the full article (in Chinese), please view the PDF below.
