The Tilleke & Gibbins Museum of Counterfeit Goods is mentioned in an October 18 commentary article in the Bangkok Post written by Curtis S. Chin, a former US Executive Director and Ambassador to the Asian Development Bank and current board member of Community and Family Services International, a nonprofit humanitarian organization based in Manila. Mr. Chin, who visited Tilleke & Gibbins in September 2011, briefly describes the museum’s history and its collection in the commentary.

Despite concerted efforts by brand owners and law enforcement personnel, fake goods continue to be a significant problem in Thailand, according to an article in the August 2011 edition of The BigChilli magazine. Based on interviews with police officers and market surveys carried out by the magazine, author Maxmilian Wechsler found that counterfeiters are pushing ahead with producing and importing fake goods due to their high profit margins, ongoing consumer demand, and corruption.

Kha Yao Jor, a Thai TV show that airs a variety of programming, will soon feature the Tilleke & Gibbins Museum of Counterfeit Goods in one of its weekly segments. Day Freeman, host of the talk show, will interview Yuwadee Thean-ngarm, Attorney-at-Law with Tilleke & Gibbins, covering the museum’s history, IP rights, trademark infringement, and the penalties for IP violations. The episode will air on Thursday, September 15 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on True Vision 70 and ASTV-3.

You2Play TV, a travel and leisure channel produced by PMD Plus Co., Ltd., will feature the Museum of Counterfeit Goods in one of its travel programs. The show, Tiew Len Pen Paan, regularly presents activities and places to visit for teenagers.You2Play TV interviewed Inthupim Chokwaranun, Attorney-at-Law at Tilleke & Gibbins, who answered questions about the history and origins of the museum, the fake products on display, and penalties for IP infringement. The segment will be broadcast on September 10 on Thaicom 5 Satellite and on cable TV throughout Thailand.
