Lex Mundi Webinar: Liberalization of ASEAN Capital Markets

Kobkit Thienpreecha, partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Bangkok office, and Vinh Quoc Nguyen, senior associate in the firm’s Ho Chi Minh City office, will present at a webinar on “Liberalization of ASEAN Capital Markets,” hosted by Lex Mundi. The webinar aims to discuss recent developments in ASEAN capital markets and introduce the ASEAN Regulations for Cross-Border Security Offerings guide, published by Lex Mundi, which provides an overview of regulations applicable to cross-border offerings of securities within ASEAN member states. Kobkit wrote the Thailand chapter of the guide, and Vinh authored the Vietnam chapter.

During the webinar, Kobkit will discuss the status of inbound and outbound offerings of ASEAN Collective Investment Scheme units, the types of Thai institutional investors permitted to invest offshore, the Bank of Thailand’s relaxation of foreign-exchange control regulations for offshore investment, and more. Vinh will provide an update on capital markets in Vietnam, covering the legal framework for offering and listing securities of foreign issuers in the country including the procedures and practical difficulties.
