John King Quoted in Asian Legal Business Article on Cambodia

Asian Legal Business

John King, partner at Tilleke & Gibbins and head of the firm’s Cambodia practice, was interviewed by Asian Legal Business  magazine for his views on the Cambodian market. His comments were included in an online article titled “Investment, AEC Rousing Cambodia’s Sleepy Legal Sector.”

In Cambodia, intellectual property is a thriving sector, John said. “Investors need to protect their valuable IP assets, so we help them do that through our team of Khmer advisors.” Continuing, he said, “trademark has always been a strong practice for us in Cambodia, and we’re seeing increased interest in patent services as the Cambodian government takes steps to improve its registration process in this area—with one example being a recent MOU allowing re-registration of Singaporean patents.” Commenting on Cambodia’s investment climate, John said, “Cambodia has fewer legal restrictions on foreign direct investment, which should generate more economic activity.”
