John Frangos to Speak at Conference on Business Ethics & Compliance in Asia

John Frangos, a foreign consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution department, will be speaking at the Business Ethics & Compliance in Asia conference, hosted by Thammasat University’s German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG), and the Viadrina Compliance Center of the Viadrana European University in Germany. The conference brings together practitioners and academics from Southeast, East, and South Asia to examine current developments, key differences, and trends in Asian compliance practice.

John will join speakers from China (PRC), Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea (ROK), Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan (ROC) and Vietnam, who will be addressing recent developments in core compliance fields from their respective jurisdictions. John’s presentation, entitled “Anti-Corruption Compliance in Thailand: Using the NACC’s Internal Control Guidelines as a Model,” will focus on how companies can use the best practice guidance laid out by Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission to help prevent bribery of state officials, foreign public officials, and agents of public international organizations.

The webcast, titled “Global Anti-Corruption Laws – The Perils of Doing Business in Asia” and run by the ACC’s International Legal Affairs Committee, will discuss the impact of global anti-corruption laws in Asia, how to manage risk appropriately, and the different regulatory frameworks applicable to in-house counsel.

Abhisit Vejjajiva, former prime minister of Thailand, recently called on civil society and the private sector to step up and play a key role in combatting corruption and related illicit activities.
