Hanoi Law Students Shine in Tilleke & Gibbins-Sponsored Competition

Tilleke & Gibbins was pleased to be the Gold Sponsor of this year’s Soul of Law competition, an annual event for Hanoi law students organized by the Law Consultant Club of the Foreign Trade University. Soul of Law 2018 concluded on the night of May 20 with the MHP team, consisting of students from the Foreign Trade University, Hanoi Law University, and Vietnam National University, being crowned champions.

The month-long competition began with a written exam on April 14, where hundreds of contestants were winnowed down to 27 exceptional students. These 27 semifinalists advanced to the second round on April 28, where they were given a chance to role-play as legal counsel to corporate clients. The top nine “advisors” moved on to Sunday night’s third and final round, where they were grouped into three teams of three for a gauntlet of challenges culminating in a traditional moot court battle.

Dr. Vinh Quoc Nguyen, a partner from Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group, served as a judge/arbitrator for the final round and helped present trophies to the winners.
