Experts Put Map Ta Phut into Perspective for Foreign Investors

On January 18, 2011, Charunun Sathitsuksomboon, Attorney-at-Law, and David Duncan, Consultant, presented on “Map Ta Phut and the Thai Regulatory Environment” at the Tilleke & Gibbins auditorium.  Putting divisive accusations and worldwide publicity concerning the Map Ta Phut situation into perspective, the speakers examined the true state of environmental regulation in Thailand and offered a critical analysis of what may be coming next.   

A Legal Affairs Committee lunch talk co-hosted by the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce, the presentation included a broad overview of other regulatory issues that impact investment, including recent developments in the Investment Promotion Act, the Industrial Estate Authority Act, the Factory Act, and the Hazardous Substances Act. The presentation also covered recent changes in promotional privileges offered to investors by the Board of Investment.
