On June 10, 2019, head of Tilleke & Gibbins’ office in Vientiane, Dino Santaniello, will speak at an event hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR (ECCIL) for honorary consuls from Europe who have been seconded to the country. Dino’s presentation will give a brief introduction to the European Commission’s Southeast Asia Intellectual Property Rights SME Helpdesk, discuss the challenges of protecting IP rights in Laos, and provide attendees with practical tips and tools from real-life experiences to better enforce IP rights in the quickly-expanding Lao market. In addition to Dino’s session, the event will feature informative presentations from ECCIL’s executive director and director of marketing and business development.

As the Lao market witnesses a continual influx of foreign direct investment, the enforcement of IP rights is becoming increasingly important to remain competitive. It is, therefore, essential for foreign investors in the jurisdiction to be aware of the tools and resources available to them, and Dino’s presentation aims to help spread such awareness.
