Cynthia M. Pornavalai to Speak on the Future of Foreign Business in Thailand

The Thailand Corporate Finance Forum, a peer group of chief financial officers, finance directors, treasury directors, and senior accountants, will be hosting a discussion on the topic “The Way Forward for Thailand’s Foreign Business Act: Protectionism or Liberalization?” The debate will cover issues such as the prospects for amendment of the Foreign Business Act, the establishment of a Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement, Thailand’s privileges as they relate to trade, the impact of ASEAN, and the importance of liberalizing foreign business to compete with other regional locations. Cynthia M. Pornavalai, a partner at Tilleke & Gibbins and a leading expert in free trade agreement negotiation and Japanese business in Thailand, will be joining three other distinguished speakers to lead the discussion.

Mergers and acquisitions are expected to grow in prominence in Vietnam as the economy resets after the COVID-19 pandemic. Anticipating this impending wave of transactions, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and its arbitration unit, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), are jointly organizing a day-long training course on M&A for Vietnamese businesses. The workshop will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at VCCI’s Ho Chi Minh City office.
