British Chamber to Host Panel Discussion on ASEAN Economic Community

The upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) integration in 2015 will have major economic implications for companies operating in all ASEAN member states. To give some context to the expected impact of this development, the British Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (BCCT) is organizing a panel discussion featuring Cynthia Pornavalai, a partner in the Tilleke & Gibbins corporate and commercial group. During the event, Cynthia will discuss:

  • Thailand’s progress in implementing the AEC blueprint
  • The legal hurdles posed by the Foreign Business Act and Alien Employment Act
  • Overall challenges with aligning laws and regulations across the region

Anticipating this impending wave of transactions, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and its arbitration unit, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), are jointly organizing a day-long training course on M&A for Vietnamese businesses. The workshop will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at VCCI’s Ho Chi Minh City office.
