British Chamber of Commerce to Visit Museum of Counterfeit Goods

On March 18, Tilleke & Gibbins will host members of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) for a networking event and tour of the firm’s Museum of Counterfeit Goods.

Beginning at 5 pm, the event will feature a presentation from Sukontip Jitmongkolthong, a partner in the firm’s IP practice, introducing the general principles of IP enforcement in Thailand. The discussion will cover IP enforcement strategies, measures, and authorities in Thailand, and will also highlight the modern challenges of IP enforcement in the online environment, and the new frontiers created for counterfeiters by online distribution channels. This will be followed by a tour of the museum’s more than 4,000 examples of counterfeit goods, spanning a startling and unexpected range of products, from high-tech industrial equipment to every imaginable kind of consumer goods. Complimentary finger food, wine, and soft drinks will be available throughout the evening.

The show, Tiew Len Pen Paan, regularly presents activities and places to visit for teenagers.You2Play TV interviewed Inthupim Chokwaranun, Attorney-at-Law at Tilleke & Gibbins, who answered questions about the history and origins of the museum, the fake products on display, and penalties for IP infringement.
