BCCT: Nic Garnett to Speak on Thailand’s Computer Crime Act

Nic Garnett, a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property group, will be a speaker at a British Chamber of Commerce Thailand presentation on “Thailand’s Computer Crime Act—An Update on the Law, Your Liability, and Solutions.” The Computer Crime Act, initially passed in 2007, has raised many important questions for business owners about their compliance obligations. Relying on his years of experience representing major online content service providers and rights holders in the licensing of exploitation rights, Nic will provide an overview of some of the legal issues raised by the Computer Crime Act.

The event will take place at the British Business Centre on Wireless Road, Bangkok, from 6.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on March 18. Athistha (Nop) Chitranukroh, partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group and co-head of the firm’s technology practice, recently joined a panel under the topic of “Lawyers and Digital Asset Laws” at the Thai FinTech Association (TFTA) Forum #4: Digital Asset Talks in Bangkok.During the panel, Athistha was quoted by the TFTA, a technology startup accelerator chaired by Korn Chatikavanij, the former finance minister of Thailand, and comprised of over 100 members from the public and private sectors.
