On November 13, 2014, the Euromoney Legal Media Group will host its annual Asia Women in Business Law Awards at the JW Marriott in Hong Kong. The firm awards will be judged on the best initiatives for gender diversity, innovation, work-life balance, pro-bono work, and talent management.Tilleke & Gibbins has been nominated in seven categories this year. Cynthia M. Pornavalai, a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group, will participate as a panelist at a joint Gide- and Lex Mundi-hosted conference titled “Investing in the Contrasting Economies of ASEAN: Trends, Opportunities, and Challenges with a Focus on Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.” The conference will broadly cover investing in ASEAN, and will feature panel discussions focused on structuring investments, mergers and acquisitions, and the impact of recent developments on foreign investment.

The Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC), in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and Tilleke & Gibbins, is organizing a seminar on “Myanmar: Strategic Investment Opportunities for SMEs.” The seminar will focus on socio-economic reform in Myanmar, and in particular, the new foreign investment and special economic zone laws.
