Industry publication Asian Legal Business is reporting on the hiring of American lawyer Jim Dao by Tilleke & Gibbins. Joining the firm’s Ho Chi Minh City office, Jim is an experienced corporate attorney whose practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, company formation, and strategic investment advice for multinational corporations and private investment funds doing business in Vietnam.

Jim earned his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and also holds a Certificate from the Wharton School, an MA from Dartmouth College, and a BS from UCLA. An American citizen, he speaks Vietnamese and is a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam, as well as a member of the State Bar of California.

“We’re delighted to add an attorney of Jim’s caliber to our team,” said Michael K. Lee, partner and head of corporate/commercial for the firm’s Vietnam offices. “It is difficult to find someone with his combined skills and experience—a graduate of a top U.S. law school who is comfortable living and working in Vietnam, and has a deep understanding of the Vietnamese legal framework.
